Does "NFL Office Pool" have an option to run a "confidence pool"?

NFL Office Pool does not currently support confidence pools. However, we are looking into providing this feature in future releases.

Can my players make picks online so I don"t have to enter their picks by hand?

Yes! You must have Internet access, the schedule must be our "official" schedule. NFL only at this time. All you need to do is create an Administrative account here. Once your account has been established, just key in your chosen user id and password in the pool Internet Integration screen and synchronize. Each of your players can be assigned a password in the pool software. They will use their alias along with your pool Admin ID and their password to make picks. The pool administrator needs only to synchronize player picks to download any picks made online.

What "tie breaker" methods are available?

NFL Office Pool allows for a tie breaker on any game. Pool settings allow for the option of either total points scored or margin of victory. Pool settings also allow for the option of either closest to the total closest or closest without going over.

Can I run "NFL Office Pool" on a Local Area Network (LAN)?

Not across a LAN, only on one physical PC. However, NFL Office Pool will integrate with information on the Internet.

How do I register my copy of "NFL Office Pool" & what do I get for registering?

I receive a the message "Invalid Configuration File" when installing NFL Office Pool, what's wrong?

For some reason InstallShield doesn't like being too far down in the directory chain. You should be able to resolve this issue by moving the install files to a directory located in a smaller path, e.g., C:\tempfiles.

I don't understand the "Recap" report - what is the deal with the Season Points & Season Record and why does it sort by Points?

This question has been asked many times. Season points represent the aggregate points selected by each player for tie-breaker games less the aggregate points scored in tie-breaker games (for those using "combined score" for tie-breakers) otherwise it represents the aggregate combined margin for all tie-breaker games. Let's see an example:

Joe plays weeks 1,2 & 3. He picks 44 for week 1, 27 for week 2 and 35 for week 3. His aggregate for all tie breaker games picked would be 44+27+35 = 106. Let's say that week 1's tie breaker score was 21-10 = 31, week 2 = 14-31=44, week 3 = 9-6 = 15 .... so 31+44+15 = 90. 106 (Joe's aggregate) less 90 (points scored) = 16. If Joe's aggregate was 80, his season points would be -10 (or 10 pts away from perfect). This point factor is only used to determine ranking when win-loss-tie record is the same for 2 or more players.

Note: At the beginning of a week, before the games have been played, but after picks have been made, the aggregate of tie-breaker games picked will reflect a slightly higher (by the amount of the current weeks tie breaker points) number than when there is a score to offset.

I'm having trouble getting the Email functionality working.  What am I doing wrong?

In order to use the email functionality you must have a valid SMTP server. Usually this information is provided by your ISP. In most cases you must use a valid email address so that the server understands who is trying to email.
Note: AOL and MSN users are out of luck - AOL doesn't allow SMTP traffic on their network (dial-up only) and MSN uses a HTTP based server.

The scores for the games are entered correctly but the correct pick appears to be wrong - what is happening?

This situation has to do with the use of spreads in determining correct and incorrect picks. If, for instance, team 1 is favored over team 2 by 4 points. Team 1 wins by 2 - they did not cover the spread. This makes team 1 an incorrect pick (if spreads are used to determine correct picks). If you do not want to use spreads to determine the correct pick, un-select "Use Spreads" in the Pool Options. Also, when there is a tie as a result of the spread, there are several options on how to handle this situation. Please review your settings if there are any questions.

The automatic upgrade hangs in Windows Vista.

This most likely has to do with the Vista UAC (User Account Control) not allowing the program to automatically update. Please click here -> Microsoft and then click the "Configure User Account Control" link toward the bottom of the page to find out how to turn off the UAC.

Alternatively, you may wish to update the software manually. To do this - click here -> nflop.exe to download the newest executable. Just find your current executable - normally located in c:\program files\Dolphin Safe Software\NFL Office Pool\ and move the downloaded file it to that directory.

My schedule is wrong. How do I fix it?

Any changes in schedule will be addressed on our website. To fix your schedule just click "Online Integration" then "Synchronization" then "Schedule" then "Update".

Can I change the schedule?

Yes. However, doing so will not allow you to use the online facility for player picks. Additionally, the schedule update feature will overwrite any changes you would have made if you choose to update the schedule. Some other features such as the automated scores and spreads updates will not function properly.
